Time flies when you're having.....fun?

This week is my very last week of my very first year of teaching. Boy, did time fly! I have enjoyed teaching more than I ever thought I would. Yes, there is a lot of stuff that they never tell you about! Yes, the kids can be a handful. Yes, grading papers can become a little monotonous, but there is nothing better than knowing that 20 kids have truly benefited from knowing you. Just by being here everyday, and learning with them. I have learned more about America's history, electric circuits, African Dwarf frogs (which i still own), fiddler crabs, fractions, etc. than i ever learned when i was in elementary school. Is that the key? To learn all the basics when you are older? Maybe I was the only 26 year old not to know anything about the Civil War before now, but i highly doubt it. Anyway, back to how time flies....

Today was our end of the year party. I gave my kids end of the year awards and we watched Scooby Doo. It was a wonderful day. Yesterday, I was so ready for these guys to be out of here. Today, I am feeling a little nostalgic. Some of my kids were sweet enough to give me some wonderful gifts, like a gift certificate to a day spa (which I can't wait to use). I even got a little wine from a supportive parent.....it was her payment for me dealing with her child all year! :) With all these wonderful gifts there was one that blew all of these out of the water, and it was something that i never would have suspected

This is one of the sweetest letters, not to mention a fabulous gift! A BEACH HOUSE FOR A WEEK?!?!! Come on.... who has that kind of luck! Well, apparently i do and i cant wait to put this gift to good use! :) Here is a picture of my little darlings!
